Increase Traffic - Increase Your Sales
by Mike Leinweber

Successful websites require traffic, and traffic comes from ongoing marketing. This may include: keyword analysis, search engine optimization, reciprocal links, advertising, PR campaign, online tools, widgets, and cross-media blending. If you plan to spend money on your website, you should make sure that people will find it. You can buy website traffic only as a temporary solution costing anywhere from $0 to $1 per hit. The best way to start is, probably, to analyze high traffic sites. Their server log files would tell you exactly how to increase traffic and where it’s coming from.

Major search engines provide most sites with a majority of their targeted website traffic, and much of the rest comes from incoming links from hundreds of other web sites. The analysis of links going into a busy website is more trouble than it is worth. Finding ways to replicate major sites’ performance is a much more effective way to increase your site’s traffic. Once you gain substantial search engine traffic, your incoming link network will grow, which will lead to improved search engine rankings. It’s a virtuous cycle that pays big dividends.

If you look at the log files for keywords or phrases typed into the search engines to find these high traffic sites you’ll discover that they are found by a much larger range of keywords than their less busy competitors. You will also notice that to increase traffic the domain names themselves often contain keywords. Your pages will definitely rank better if the domain name or the page name contains the keywords being searched for.

Once you grasp just what it is that can actually increase traffic to your website, you must put it into use. This means volume, correct content, and search engine optimizing. Create as many pages as you can, relying on custom software and tools to insert keywords with precise positioning on a page and with carefully tuned density. After doing this, access a site or tool to analyze page ranking and judge whether your ranking has increased as desired from the changes you have made.

There are many ways that people use to find websites, such as following links on other websites, reading magazines, hearing from friends, etc. But no matter what other methods they use, they almost always use them in addition to using the search engines. If there was one thing you could not eliminate from a site’s success driver and not ruin it, it is most usually its traffic from the search engines. No other method of marketing is so powerful, effective, and affordable.

Getting the content up is only half the task. The other half is closing the sale once the visitor arrives. Presentation and usability are key factors. If your site does not look professionally, or is difficult to navigate, or the consumer cannot find what they’re looking for within seconds, they quickly move on to the next search result.

The way to increase traffic is to continually market your website. To do this, you may mix several of the the following things together: analyzing keywords, optimizing your website on search engines, advertising, public relations, reciprocal links, online tools and widget use. A short-term solution is to buy website traffic. Most sites get their targeted website traffic from popular search engines. Another large portion comes from incoming links from other high traffic sites or umpteen no of smaller sites. Typically, once you have a lot of search engine traffic, your incoming links network will grow automatically. And link popularity, in its turn, boosts search engine rankings.
